I went to a High School in a predominantly black neighborhood in Chicago. And even back in 1989 I was discriminated against for being in the white minority. This sort of phenomenon just sort of happens with humans because of their family abuse cycle. Gave me a unique insight to the nature of humans. I did not retaliate to the discrimination because I felt bad because of what the cycle of abuse had done to black families since the days of slavery. I believe racism is more of a mob like mentality rather than an individual mentality. What was weird was I could only be friends with black people when they weren't around their other black friends. Otherwise they would be teased for 'selling out to the white man'.

Especially when people do things like dismiss economics as a contributing factor by saying most of the crimes weren't "economically motivated" (robbery, etc). Interestingly, I went to a high school in a predominantly well off, mostly white neighborhood near Minneapolis. We had a few black students, and I don't think they enjoyed their minority status at my school any more than you did at yours.

I think we're making progress, but clearly there are still some racial issues in our country.

I don't really have a problem with someone quoting facts, even if the reality of race/crime statistics in the United States is so imbalanced that the truth sounds racist against African-Americans. That being said, I don't see how statistics on interracial crime are relevant to this case, which was an attack by black people on a black man (the gentleman who complained about the spanking).

I just moved back to Canada from spending 3 months in New York, and from everything I saw down there I'm happy we don't have as many black and hispanic people up here. I wish I didn't feel that way.

Well there are many great people from both backgrounds, and I've met many, a disproportionately large amount of both groups went out of there way to make even the most mundane task fvcking challenging. The stats outlined in the reddit analysis just makes me even happier, yet resigned.

It's too bad that certain demographics are more responsible for certain events than others though, can't we all just get along?
