Motorized wheelchairs aren't friggin supercharged gocarts. They're slow. I walk about the same pace as most motorized wheelchairs.

I was chased by a weird disabled guy in a wheelchair once.. it went fast... long story, the kind you laugh about after... maybe it was tricked out or something. I was pretty scared though.

Actually, a LOT of motorized wheelchairs are pretty f'ing fast these days. Old ones were slow, but they've made them faster as a selling and "safety" point (safer street crossing, easier to get away from an attacker, etc)
