I don't give a fvck to be honest. It's the food chain and the shark was just trying to survive like we are. Survival of the fittest.

Franzman was wearing a full wetsuit and swim fins when she was attacked, Lea said. The state marine biologist said the shark may have mistaken Franzman, silhouetted against the surface, for a seal. The sharks are ambush predators and attack their prey from below
lol! I always love the marine biologists and 'shark experts' who insist that sharks don't target humans, they only 'mistake' them for 'their natural prey' (which include humans).

I wonder what 'prey animal' sharks confused for the couple hundred sailors of the USS Indianapolis eaten by sharks as they bobbed in the ocean for days?

Didn't help that the Navy manual at the time stated that you should move into an upright position and flail your arms and legs when sharks drew near. It has since been revised.

This is a sad sad story. Never took the time to read about it. The story from a survivor brought tears to my eyes.
these sharks were not great whites.

In Hawaii (and other tropical waters) the TIGER SHARK will kill and eat humans - no prob. The GW is more "picky".

Did you see the Anatomy of a Shark Bite show? They did a great job showing the strength of the tiger sharks bite due to it's tooth design. That thing is a true killing machine. They determined that it was tiger sharks at the Indianapolis from all the survivor tales of men being bit in half and limbs that were bit clean off. The GW doesn't have the strength to bite a man clean in half without some outside force.
