Damn... Only in America could you get away with this. Is it any wonder why our country is messed up because of loons like this.

Next your gonna have to agree to some sort of "disclaimer" every time you fire up google maps. I'm surprised she didn't sue black berry for displaying the contents.

Whats next suing gmail because you got taken for a phishing scam? Sigh...

Well, get used to it, this is straight out of the minds of our "progressive" leaders who you love with all your heart. I will bet some of them get the idea that Google has a greater duty to the public and must have their walking directions regulated by the government with financial penalties for giving bad advice.

Google Maps terms of service has a section about limitation of liability for inaccurate maps and directions. Seems like they don't have a leg to stand on, but this is America after all, so who knows.

I'd normally entertain a battle of wits with you regarding your comment, however, I can't bring myself to battle the unarmed.

i don't really disagree with what he said though. if the GPS says walk down the middle of a highway and you do it you deserve to get hit. then filling a lawsuit about it? yeah pity it didn't kill her.

The judge should throw this thing out in record time. If I make software that tells you to jump off a cliff, should I be blamed when you die? Hell no.

It is YOUR fault for doing the stupid thing, not mine for telling you to do it. This woman should be bankrupted by this suit.

I'm not going to judge this case... all I'm saying is if corporations are gonna fuck us over we should have the right to sue them for whatever the fuck we want. If the judge thinks its retarded then its retarded.

Sorry to inform you of this, but we can't survive without cooperation to "screw us over". We wouldn't be able to provide food, clothing, electronics, anything.

Now, if a corporations does something wanton, then sure, sue them. However, with something like this, it is ridiculous. How would you like to be sued because you gave someone bad directions?

I didn't say there wasn't a need for corporations. What I'm saying is our system is set up so you can sue anyone for anything and that's how it should be.

And I guess that to some extent I do agree with that. However, for something this dumb I support a more harsh penalty to the suing party. IMO while a lawsuit like this should be possible to do, it shouldn't be as common as it is.

Man how culpable are people? If I make a website asking people to give me money, how much do you think I can get?

Gotta love the irony. The government helps them fuck us sans lube and the government is gonna sort it out when the fucked has an issue.

I agree, with a caveat. If you lose, you pay what you were suing for. Same thing for reporting false crimes. If your person is not convicted/found guilty then you should suffer for bringing things in and sucking up everyone's time and money.

You must work for a lawyer. Because that is the ONLY person who would benefit from this.

Hopefully google gets the judge to make her pay for their legal defense because it's a frivolous suit. Since they probably have a LOT of lawyers on staff, that could get very expensive for her.

That's not a very good idea. It would prevent people from suing ANY large organization, for any reason, because they'd be financially screwed if they lost. 10 million dollars means virtually nothing to a huge multi-national, but it's an inconceivable sum to most individuals.

I don't see what the big deal is and how this warranted an article.

An idiot misused technology and filed a lawsuit. That's not news. Anyone can file a suit about ANYTHING. It's part of what makes this nation great.

Now if this gets any traction in a court and Google has to pay damages...then it's news and worth our attention
