For those who are scared by the story: these cases of multiple babies are usually due to previous fertility treatments. There is no reason why a "normal" woman would conceive so many children. Unless she ate at McDonalds - and in general only pre-cooked food - all her life, because the sad truth is that, especially in the U.S., there are a lot of hormones in the meat (makes animals mature faster and grow larger)...

I wonder if the 5 to 10 thousand dollars these people spend on fertility drugs, knowing that they will most likely produce multiple births, is really worth it in the end. You figure, it probably cost about $15,000 to give birth to that many. Now they have to stay there and probably will be there for the next two months so figure in another 15 - 20 thousand just to keep them there.

Who can put a price on life? For some any amount of money is worth the opportunity to be a parent. Usually people who can drop 10K on a fertility treatment aren't exactly poor.

A hitman.

Seriously though, I don't people should have so many kids unless they can afford it. Parents should have to make a minimum of 35k a year per child. I'm tired of my tax dollars raising other people's kids.

There is also the issue of over-population.
