All I can say is What The Heck were they thinking??? :(

http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/05/24/crowded.car.ap/index.html

NEWHALL, California (AP) -- A woman was arrested after the California Highway Patrol officer who pulled her car over found nine people crammed inside, including two children in the trunk.

"I have never heard of this," said Officer Wendy Hahn. "There was no room left in the car, so she puts two of the kids in the trunk. We're trying to get people to buckle up, and this is what we find."

Lavern Dunlap, 35, of Glendora, was pulled over about 8 p.m. Friday after another driver reported seeing a woman closing the trunk of her Toyota Corolla with two children inside as the vehicle sat parked on a shoulder.

.

Just saw on CBS news a woman was arrested;that had a black Volvo,
with a 3year old,and 8year old,and a 9 year old in the trunk.
It was 90f outside, and the Officer said the children were soaked with sweat.

Couldn't find the link for that one! :(

I always want to know WTF these people were thinking and what their justfication was. I'm more interested in that than the details of the story.

People are stupid. they never think about what may happen. You know eventually one of those morons is going to get in an accident and their kids will get killed. They'll sue the auto maker because the car didn't stop them from putting their kids in the trunk.

And with the way the system works today, they will win. Just had a case 2 weeks ago where a guy was suing Yamaha and the local ATV retailer for 2 million dollars after he wrecked because he didn't know how to ride. He blamed the wreck on the brakes although it was proven that the brakes were fine. The jury found Yamaha guilty. When polled after the trial they said they thought the defendant was at fault, but thought that Yamaha could afford it so they stuck it to them. All I could say was WTF.

Sounds like the defense attorney for Yamaha sucked, because if he had done his job half decenet the jury would never have made a call like that.

Geez, we always joked about having someone ride in the trunk, but this is ridiculous
