I'm not sure how it would require an i7, but only a 6850/460. Is the AI just amazing or something?

It's a weird specs sheet.

That has got to be a typo, or a mix of lowest and recommended specs.

There is no way in hell any publisher would put out a game requiring an i7; with so many people having older CPUs, they'd be cutting a huge percentage of possible buyers.

90% sure that's the "recommended" specs as well.

Although...that seems a tad high even for recommended....

intel i5 CPU's are still suggested as mid-range low-end PC builds.

Same thing I thought at first mizzou, until I looked at the video card.

I'm not sure how it would require an i7

It'll be an i7 860-ish level i7, which benches around a modern i3 3xx0 CPU. Requirements are fairly low.

Remember, they have to get these games to run on netbook CPUs and 2 year old midrange GPUs. They can't aim super high with system requirements.

They have to consider mobile cpu's as well, and they dont factor in overclocking. Thinking a 3.6+ ghz quad core should be fine as usual. People going for 120 hz might need more.

It's silly for them to just say "i7" since:

- Which kind? Ivy, Sandy, Haswell?
- What clock speed?
- A fast or newer-gen i5 can be faster than a slow or older i7

So: useless spec is useless.

Also, if it only needs a Radeon 6850 does it really need a Haswell i7?

Wow my system is basically the bare min for this game :( It's only 3 years old!

All games will eventually want and use an i7 - Watch Dogs and Shadows of Mordor already say they need one. Creaky old Core 2's and i3's need not apply. Next gen consoles have at least 6 threads at their disposal, and being tablet CPU's I suspect any modern i7 Sandy and up will be sufficient even with hyperthreading.

For Wolfenstein I'd say AI, and those megatextures combined with possible physics if its CPU heavy. Easily possible. And no, its time to chuck that Phenom OP.

> Next gen consoles have at least 6 threads at their disposa

1.6 GHz AMD threads. An Ivy Bridge i5 at 3+ GHz can beat that with 1 or more cores tied behind its back.

An intel 3.2 GHz core with higher IPC is going to run 2 game threads faster than 2 x 1.6 GHz cores.

Based on the other specs, it is fairly safe to assume they mean the Lynnfield i7, not the subsequent(Sandy, Ivy, Haswell) i7s. I mean who the hell would be running a 460 or 6850 on Sandy i7 or above?

Way to not know the difference between Required and Recommended Bethesda PR gang...

Maybe file under intentionally F-up the release to generate PR?

50GB?

Metro Last Light is currently taking 9GB.

I know its early to compare but wow what is up with the file sizes these days.

It's Bethesda we're talking about here. You'll need a top end i7 and will have to set the processor affinity to one core just to prevent the game from crashing.

From what I have seen over the years the final specs are not fully set in stone until towards the end of production usually. Tweaking has to be done. So a i7 recommendation wouldn't be uncommon given the current times and how far gaming tech has advanced. As someone mentioned above it could be a low i7 they are referring to. I'm guessing why they weren't more specific is because they haven't finalized it yet. A 2014 game may require some to upgrade whether they like it or not. Time will tell. I wouldn't get worked up over it just yet.

If this game is going to take 50gb storage, I hope it will justify it with the graphics. (not another Call of Duty: Ghosts)

A lot these game dev's need to take lessons from Valve on how to optimize a game.

Damn, whats better than an i7?
Cuz if thats the minimum and thats all I've got, how am I supposed to beat it?

Also, I have been meaning to move up from my GTX 460 and I suppose this summer is as good a time as any, yes?

I'm thinking its more of a recommended than a minimum. The minimum would be less.
