Anyone try this ...?
It's got alot of votes....

Just wondering about the number of servers running this game, and
if the netcode runs OK.

It's a fantastic game. I've been playing this thing for at least 2 years. Solid in my book.

edit: and there's always a lot of servers open as well. The only complaint I would give would be the fact that there's only 7 main maps - but there's a lot of quality fan-made maps to make up for that.

i just installed ET the other day and put in some time online today. tough game, as there is a noticeable learning curve coming from other online FPS games (like CS), but quite fun. i just found a good ET website that has tips, tricks, FAQs, etc too.

reading this makes me want to play some more... :)

After you install ET get ETF (www.etfgame.com), it's a fast paced fortress game and is pretty much the only thing I play right now. The current release is pretty much a direct port of Q3F so it plays a lot like a Q3 mod.

ET is an excellent game, and being free just makes it that much sweeter. Some of the maps can be pretty tough for one side, but overall the best team will win usually.

I love being the axis for Fuel Depot, as well as Gold Rush. I'm going to have to try ETF, thx Nothinman.

ET is da bomb. Trust me, even without ETF, it is a lot of fun. The standard maps are great and there are some very good custom maps. The most fun is Over the Top, Venice, Desert Temple and Base Race.

OK, where were you late bloomers hiding out the last two years ? This game does have a learning curve, but its a helluva lotta fun too. Remember to follow your class objectives (Medics heal, Field Ops give ammo) and don't be the first guy in a firefight, and you'll live a lot longer.

That's an awesome mod. I gave ET a try when it came out at the end of 2003. Thanks to this thread, I made it a point to download both ET and the ETF mod.

Medics are the easiest beginner class, IMO, since their health heals - BUT YOU HAVE TO HEAL THE OTHER TEAMMATESS TOO! :|:|:|

*flashbacks of n00b ET Medics just running around doing absolute jack while you're there asking for a medic nonstop . . ..*

Nothing like lying there waiting to be revived and being passed by medics numerous times. I'd rather the n00bs go Field Ops and drop some ammo at spawn, then they can go get killed and then repeat the process. IMO thats more useful than a clueless medic.

I admit I'm a Rambo medic if there ever was one ;) . But I also heal and revive like nobodies business. I'll run halfway across a map to answer a call for med.

Ive been playing this game since the day it came out. Its like heroin.

I ususally consider myself a combat medic - follow a squad to a choke point, and keep them alive at all costs. What annoys me most though is running out into the open (and certain death) to revive someone, just to have them tap out when you get there.

This is one of the best newbie sites I've ever found for it.

http://www.planetwolfenstein.com/4newbies/

Very much like heroin, and I dont plan on kicking this habit anytime soon.

The new patch is causing a bit of a problem as a lot of the servers are waiting for a new version of ETPro.

http://www.migamer.com and http://www.hamstershouseoffun.com host the three servers that I usually play on. Great servers with friendly players and good admins on all the time.

...and remember...the little flags are not powerups.

oh, that just bugs me, so i mention that i'm a medic numerous times with the voice command thing(whatever that's called) !!!

P.S.: I actually just played this game for an hour until a few minutes ago... it's almost bed time
