Wolfdale stock heatsink pictures

Looks like there is still an aftermarket for heatsink fans 🙂 Let me guess, for the quad's they'll bundle the Old style sink hehe?

lol just a big block of aluminum

Yeah, these are the same heatsinks that are bundled with the Celeron 440, and the new E2200 too. My E2140s came with the bigger all-aluminum heatsink. My E4400 came with the big copper-core heatsink. Hopefully the quads will still come with the bigger copper-core heatsinks.

I can see a market for the Conroe style heatsink now. Install the Conroe style heatsink on an E8400/E8500 CPU and you got a quiet, effective heatsink that will also cool the surrounding components for a very low price.

I have an unopened E2180 sitting next to me, I'll be curious as to which of these is included.

Thanks AmberClad for the link.

Brilliant! We'll pawn off our unwanted Conroe HSFs on the new Wolfdale owners, with their puny new stock HSFs 😀.

This thing doesn't need a fan if it's idling. It will turn on, rotate once, then shut off. It's at 23c. Can't wait to crunch on some images in Photoshop.

If i plan to overclock my E84000 too 4 ghz, do i need a seperate heatsink and fan? please recommend one, or do i just use the stock, or do i just use any random lga775 heatsinkfan combo?

thanks

look at this page, choose the one you like, and google it up for pricing & availability. the top of the list down shows the coolers that cool the 775 cpus the most effectively. any cooler ~20C and below on the 150watt thermal test is excellent.

LOL...

intel probably realized many people are changing there sinks. So they cut them in half to save cost on metal and other stuff.

But then again, the high end processors, like the QX9650 has a monster sink.

Bah at any route... the only time i use the stock sink is the do my first run on prime with it. To see if the chip is a lemon or not. Then the sink gets tossed in my box with my other intel sinks.

Yeah, no kidding. That thing looks smaller than some northbridge heatsinks. I mean, they wouldn't have done that if they weren't confident the cooling would be enough for a stock speed Wolfdale, but I do tend to think that cutting costs played a big part in this.
