So in a few weeks(probably 2) I start my internship at Northtrop Grumman in their IT department. Found out I got accepted today, and they just have to process my paperwork before I can get started. It's not paid or anything, but it is nice interning at a company with as much history as them. Mostly thanks to the Head of Technology in my school.

Just don't cry when the Lockheed Martin interns take all the good jobs after graduation.

j/k!! Congrats!! Defense contractors on the whole just rock. I never was into engineering much, but I did participate in a high school program that paired us up with Lockheed Sanders (later Lockheed Martin) while work on the F-22's flight systems was still underway in the same facility!

That was my main motivation for taking it, my resume. I was one of two people to get an internship there.

Internship = no pay = no way! Although with a family, an internship isn't practical.

Congrats man!

The one in Bethpage. It's about 1 minute from my house and 30 seconds from my school (literally across the street).

Cool. My father and several of my friends from college work for several Northrop Ship Systems companies back in New Orleans. Good luck!

Wow, congrats. How old are you? My father does a lot of work for Pratt and Whitney (I know, not Northrup), but if Northrup is half as interesting as what I've seen at Pratt and Whitney, you're gonna have fun (at least if you are into planes and aerospace).

Not to be cocky or anything, but I am the best student concerning technology in my school. I'm the strongest programmer, technician, and network personnel out of all the students in the school. That coupled with my CCNA I'll soon have(going to be the 3rd person ever to get one through my school), helping to teach a programming course over the summer, Technology Award I'm getting at the end of the year from my school, being the only the 2nd person to graduate(in June) from my school with their version of an advanced technology HS diploma, and the awesome recommendation I got from the Head of Technology in my school might have had something to do with it.

Yes I'm in high school. I don't mind getting not paid though because this is a huge opportunity and a great resume booster. I have no idea who the supervisor is in Bethpage, but I'm sure I'll find out in the next few weeks.

Amazing. A company that makes that much money and is that big isn't paying an intern. Maybe it's just be but I think unpaid internships are bullsh1t. I guess I shouldn't be talking since I worked at my company for 3 monthes for free before being hired fulltime.

By the way, did you have to get an SSBI clearance?

Well, it's unpaid for HS folks but paid for college interns. I figure they see a higher ROI with college interns over HS interns.

Don't think so as of now, but they just have me filling out the initial paperwork. We'll see what else they say once that gets submitted.

I was gonna say...if you get SSBI you basically have a job for the rest of your life. Even if you're an idiot.

Congrats and good luck tho
