So I was finally able to see a good doctor today about my broken ankle (I have a few threads about the subject already). He has me scheduled for surgery next Wednesday. I will have two (I think) permanent screws placed in my ankle to hold the joint together. Hopefully there are no complications and the surgery works.

At least it's in a place that can be checked with the hand-held wand thingy without too much embarrassment.

See the section on the right that hangs down like a finger? That's the knob you feel on the inside of your ankle. That entire piece is supposed to be attached to the rest of the bone. Yeah, that one that looks like it is a seperate bone...it isn't friking supposed to be.

I am willing to bet the novelty will wear off quickly and it will soon become a curse of sorts;)

Heh. I've been living with this for almost 4 months now. I'm so ready to get this over with.

I got 3 screws in my left foot, and 2 pins in my right knee! Bleh, I empathize with what you are about to go through for the next 2 years. It's a major PITA.

Yeah. The great thing is, the US Army is refusing to grant me disability even though they admin they are liable.

The army doesn't grant sh~t. It's the VA that does all the assessment. You go through them when you are done with your term and they give you the disability. I have 0%... yah you heard right 0% disability form my injuries. Which mean they are "military related" because of inamural sports, but since I have complete and full use of everything right now it's 0%. If I develop problems, like mobility issues and pain later, then my disability amount will be adjusted up. But it is still considered disability. I even have a disabled veterans card. Heheh.

The problem is, I can't work like this and I am not yet discharged, so the VA won't do anything. I contacted my unit commader yesterday and explained the situation. She has until next Tuesday to get something accomplished before I go to the media and senators. btw, the injury occured in the line of duty, and I have the report stating that.
