Woaw, the auto body shop really knows what customer service is about!

Definitely ask for some business cards and let him know you will be passing them out for him...

Then buy the man a beer, or offer him a big tip if he refuses...

Hey,
I live in Kew Gardens, NY. The repair shop is in Ozone Park, NY. I don't want to post the place's name cause I don't want my personal awe of this guy's kindness to seem like an ad or spam.

I am, however, going to write a letter to him so that he can have something to frame or at least have on file... He's got a customer for life now and I get into a lot of accidents so.. hah. Seriously, the guy changed my brakes and aligned the tires! How cool is that??? If he was a girl I'd take him out for movies and dinner. Actually, I'll get him a gift certificate for him and his wife to see a dinner and a movie...

If anyone wants the name of the joint PM me - I hate spam and don't want to be accused of spamming.

If he didn't charge you any more for all that work, and his quote was in line with the other places... Then that means he ate the cost of your rear bumper and all the extra labor.... Why??

That's bad business. I mean, it's nice for you.... but you can't run a business like that.

:| OMFG...he did all that stuff w/o telling you? That POS auto/body dealer...i hate it when they do all these extra services w/o consulting you. What a bunch of crock...Sue his ass.

🙂 j/k. J/K PPL...MAN, CALM DOWN.

maybe he's a first time customer? Or the mechanic just happened to have the parts lying around. heh.

I'm not exactly sure why he did all of the stuff for free. He had a long talk with my dad - my dad is retired and had a heart to heart of sorts (I'm unemployed as well). He explained that we're having money problems and just explained our situation to Jimmy (the auto repair dude). I don't think he ate the cost - i think he probably just lowered his usual labor rate. In fact, I asked about my tail light (which had a crack) - he offered to install it for free if I picked one up. So I'm guessing he just charged us very little for labor.

Maybe that's why he's a millionare.. 😛

Seriously, though -- it'll pull customers in forever..I work for a grocery retailer, and we'll refund anything that a customer isn't 100% satisfied with. People keep coming back, and company stock keeps rising..

Of course if the extra service also came with a double price bill at the end, then technically I'd be pissed and say he should have gotten permission before doing more work than you originally agreed to.

Oh, if he charged me for the extra work without asking I'd sue hs ass. But he didn't charge me and he's a swell guy...

Let him know how happy you are, and ask him for some business cards, so you can pass them around. Nothing beats a little free advertising.

Exactly what I was going to say.

Yeah, this will mean a lot more to him than a nice tip.

ROFL @ the image of the guy redestroying the stuff he fixed without asking, to make it even.

Yea and ethics is just the bare minimum, just what you expect. This guy went above and beyond the minimum. Post his website and maybe we can get the FW effect going to bring him more business (and hopefully not to take down the site).

Hey, wrong forum! We're all about the AT effect here. 🙂

Note: He hates his wife with a passion. You will receive a phone call at an odd hour and be directed to her location where you will kill her without question to repay your debt. Mark my word! 😀

Too bad more businesses didn't operate this way. Everyone is so damn concerned about profit and lifestyle that they forget that you will be far more successful at least appearing NOT to be concerned with such things. Good business and repeat customers will make you far more rich than gouging people for profit margin.

Tell him that you appreciate the extra service he gave, and ask him if you can treat him to a night out at a bar for some beers or a nice dinner. If he declines, then offer a tip.

not that I don't tip, but for those service people who expect to be tipped, what makes them think they deserve more $$ for something that they're already being paid to do, which they're supposed to be doing in the first place?

OK, since so many people asked here's the places' info. I'm not a spammer though and I'm not an italian guy so I don't work for the place 😉
