Woaw, the auto body shop really knows what customer service is about!

So I got into a pretty nasty accident the other day.. I was at fault and slid into a minivan (my car was skidding in the rain and such). So I wrecked an axel, destroyed a tire, messed up my front bumber and wrecked my fender. It had to be towed to the shop and the guy there was very helpful and kind. He even gave me a ride home and called me the next day to see if i was ok.

So flash forward to today. I went to pick up my car and he went so above and beyond - he fixed all the damage but also replaced my rear bumper (which was damaged due to a few parking lot bumps), fixed a dent on the left side of my car (that was not damaged in the accident) and replaced my front two tires (not just the tire that was damaged but the other one too, claiming that it was better in the long run to have both swapped).

He also drove my car to check if it was driving OK and noticed that my alignment was off and that my brakes were getting worn out - he replacement my brakes, aligned my tires, and finally gave me a free detailing - my car looks basically brand new now!

I double checked the bill and nothing extra was listed other than the damaged items - the estimate was also in line with what other people were charging for the damage. SOOooo... Christmas came early for me! Should I give this guy a huge tip or just like buy him some beers? He's the owner of the shop (he's a millionaire) so I thought a tip would be insulting.. Hmm...

Let him know how happy you are, and ask him for some business cards, so you can pass them around. Nothing beats a little free advertising.

Tell him that you appreciate the extra service he gave, and ask him if you can treat him to a night out at a bar for some beers or a nice dinner. If he declines, then offer a tip.

Thank him for doing a nice job and going above and beyond what was required.

Ask him for a handful of business cards so you can hand them out and refer some business to him.

Thank him again.

I agree. This is the best way you can show your gratitude.

More customers are better than a tip.

At first I thought you were being sarcastic. If this is true and nothing was added to your bill then you need to let this man know just how appreciative you are... and tell me where his shop is located. 😛

if you have a FWD car you basically need to have two tires of the same mileage on the fronts, else your differential will be working much harder than is normal.

Lemme get this straight.... you got your car totally turned around within the same fortnight???? WOW! I have never had body work done within 2 months!!!

Dude, ask him if theres any way you can marry into his family!

Yeah, i was shocked! I'm going to go out and buy something that the whole crew can enjoy - maybe pizzas and beer... Then I'll grab hundreds of business cards and spread them out like crazy. The place has been in business for 3 generations and I can totally see why. When the guy picked up my car from the accident (it was a sunday so the owner did the pick up himself) he over heard me talking to my mom on the phone asking her to take a cab since I couldn't give her a ride... The guy offered to pick my mom up and drop her off to her destination! I'm simply amazed at my experience with this place.

By "the other day" I meant sunday June 13th.

Exactly what I was going to say.

So, I should never pull off a one tire fire?

Jeez, what's the address of this shop? Next time I need body work, I'll drive my car from MI to NYC for it! 🙂

That's astounding, really! I wish all places of business had ethics like this joint.. 🙁

Yea and ethics is just the bare minimum, just what you expect. This guy went above and beyond the minimum. Post his website and maybe we can get the FW effect going to bring him more business (and hopefully not to take down the site).
