WOAH! Winamp sounds sooo much better!!

I wanted winamp to controlmaster volume rather than wave volume so i started messing with it.
I set it to Direct Sound output, and it sounds soooo much better!
I got the volume of winamp to be independent, so I accomplished what i wanted... and i also made it sound better

The highs are much better
and the sound is more crisp

anyone else have these results?

I'm using a Guillemot Maxi Sound Fortissimo BTW

and the soundstage is soo much wider
I exclusively use headphones - Sennheiser HD 580

The problem with direct sound is it will clash with other programs trying to use sound.

Also if I use the digital out on my SB live then whenever I do something processor intensive it'll start crackling. No such problem under wave out.

Interesting. I've also experienced the crackling on sound although i'm only using a lousy ESS Maestro1 sound card.

I just tried it. Even attached my heaadphones on. I didn't notice much improvement. At least, it's level of improvement doesn't come up to DirectX Plugin JetFX's quality.

so all I do is click on Perference, under plugin, Output, and then click on Direct?
