How many miles on your car / how old is it? Might be time to change your spark plugs and wires.

Yah, I put a new airfilter in my car and I went from 28 to 32 mpg. 🙂

I just got a new filter in my 02 Civic. Before this, it was getting 23-25mpg in mixed driving (yes, it's a well-maintained Civic). Now, I'm getting 33-35mpg, which is the advertised mileage. Of course, there were other adjustments made besides the air filter.
