wouldn't the straw melt if it's HOT coffee?

Does the styrofoam melt when you pour the coffee into it?

Does steel melt when you pour coffee into it?

Straws are plastic.

It depends on the polymer they use to form the straw. One would hope they use a polymer that has a higher melting point and doesn't outgas toxic solvents until said higher melting point.

So are the stir straws made to stir various additions to your hot coffee. They don't melt.

Try this...

Put your coffee in the microwave for 1 minute, then drop a spoon into it!

PS: Wear goggles
