Woah - City of Heroes charges sales tax on their monthly fee

Hooooo boy. Not that the extra two bucks or so breaks the bank but it's the principle. I go through my bank statement and see a monthly charge of $16.23. As far as I know, they're the ONLY MMO that does this.

Maybe it depends on the State you are in, or the State they are billing from?

Yeah, I've been looking into it. They charge in Texas, California and one other state. But hell, Blizzard is based in Irvine and no sales tax there.

Doesn't matter where the company is based but where they base their sales offices at I believe.

Didn't know they charged tax on an MMO though that does suck

Shens. I live in California, where their HQ is located and have never, ever paid sales tax.

So you're blaming the company over something they really have no control over? How grown up of you.

It's a service, it shouldn't be taxed. Then again, food shouldn't be taxed either, but fast food places do it. Meh.
