wmv - mp4 converter (for psp) for OSX

My friend keeps bugging me to convert files for him because he cannot find a free utility for OSX. Does anybody know of a free program that will convert wmv to mp4 (or whatever the PSP uses)?

And I know this isnt a Mac forum, but maybe some of your friends have Macs or something. I googled and couldnt find anything that was free.

Check versiontracker or even macupdate.
I can sometimes find good stuff on macupdate that I couldn't find on versionatracker.

I couldnt find anything on either site that was free.

I searched "psp" and "wmv mp4".

I'm very surprised there are no free converters. There are so many for Windows.

Hrm. Try searching for "convert" in video software.
You should find multitudes of stuff in there.

iSquint might do what he needs, but I dont think so. Its an iPod converter, and Im not sure what format the ipod uses.

I don't think so.
Sony and Apple use different codecs.
Although they may both use so-called "mp4", the codecs are slightly different from each other.

download 3ivx

you can use that with any encoding software that will open wmv. an example is tmpgenc. open the wmv file, output to avi, select the 3ivx codec in video compression, and whatever codec psp uses for audio.
