wmplayer.exe using all cpu power?

Hi. I just did a fresh install of Windows XP...fully updated with Windows Media Player 11.

When I go into Media Player 11, such as playing a simple MP3, my CPU usage for wmplayer.exe is basically at 100 percent and my system goes extremely slow until i exit wmplayer.exe.

anybody know why? ive never had this problem before.

many thanks

Check to see if there are any updates for WM11 as well.

Also, WMP has a tendancy to monitor certain folders to add media files automatically. If you look into this check to see if there's a folder that might have some media files it can't seem to cope with.

I think there is some problem with your installation . Just try to re-install the Windows Media Player because it never took that much RAM.

Re-read the OP's post. It wasn't that it was a RAM usage problem, it's a CPU issue.
