WMP playback problem

I am having playback problems with my WMP 9 final. Some files work fine, some files have problems. The problem is..... some files cannot be skipped/fast-forwarded to the scene I want, using the navigation bar at the bottom. However, some files just skipped fine. Does it have to do with file types? mpg, avi or mov?
