WMP keeps crashing

I downloaded fansubs of:

[foB&kdrama]Stairway_to_Heaven_01[8A28527F].avi
[fob&kdrama]Stairway_to_Heaven_02[C397D365].avi

and everytime I try to watch this I get something titled "mplayer2.exe - Application Error" saying:

The exception Integer division by zero.
(0x0000094) occurred in the application at location 0x016ed928.

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

When I choose to debug I see:

Unhandled exception in mplayer2.exe (XVID.AX): 0xC0000094: Integer Divide by Zero

Anyone have any suggestions to fix this? I never had any problems with any other movies I've downloaded. I reinstalled XVID and even installed the new WMP 9 series. I'm not sure whats wrong. Other people seem to have no probs with these vids.

you sure its the xvid thats the decompressor used?

maybe mpeg?

check your audio codec, make sure youhave the right one.

also try running yoru older WMP, go to run and type mplayer2 which is the older version and try running it there.

otherwise take it as a corrupt avi file. maybe use virtualdub (google it) and see if that opens it and allows you to convert it.

The fact that the unhandled exception happens in XVID.AX says to me that it's the XviD decoder that is giving you problems. I would ask others that have this working which XviD they installed. Or you could install ffdshow and ask it to do the decoding instead.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have updated WMP (was previous using WMP 6.4.xxx), XVid, and DivX5.1.1. The problem seems to be linked to DivX 5.1.1. As soon as I install it, the video file will work. However, when I close it and open it again, the same error comes up. This is quite strange. In order to view again, I have to constantly reinstall the new version of Divx.

What can be causing this?!

I used crc32e to verify the file.

If anyone's interested, I uninstalled Xvid, Divx, and a WMP hotfix and now the file plays correctly. Odd indeed. I'm a bit hesistant on reinstalling anything though.
