wmp jumps in volume when clicking progress bar

Using wmp 10 and when I click forward or backward, the volume level jumps up high. The volume slider itself on the WNP doesn't change, but it BLASTS the volume way up. Any one else having this prob? NO sucess searching Microsoft's site or google

Does it happen in every track or just the one?

Was/were the track(s) ok beforehand?

Do they play fine in WinAmp or the like?

Yes. I can set the volume and it will run at that same level all the way through until I click to advance the progress

Haven't tried it in winamp

I am wondering if it is related to the sound card. I have found when the volume jumps, it ignors what I have told windows is the max volume level (using the speaker icon in the system tray). It ignors that and goes to the max I have my "hardware" speakers set to.

quite aggravating
