Whenever I try to play a WMP file it never loads and goes to 100% CPU usage until I end it in the Task manager.

CPU AMD 3500+, 2G of ram, EVGA 7800GS. WoW and HL2 play just fine and I tried reinstalling the latest drivers and reinstalling DIVX.

I had a 6800GT OC in it earlier today but it started artifacting then died.

ANy ideas? Thanks in advance!

Check your Task Manager and see if there's a rundll32.exe process running that takes up a lot of CPU cycles. If it does kill it.

I checked before I tried to play and it wasn't in there and tried to play and I wasn't in there. Thanks though.

What media player? You said WMP but is it actually WMP or are you playing back wmv files in another player?
What codec of file are you trying to play?
Does every type of file (video codec) have the problem?

You can try installing ffdshow (and configuring it to enable codecs you wish to playback). It is not bloated like K-Lite and it's easily uninstallable if you decide not to keep it.

It happened when you moved from 6800->7800?

It's Windows Media Files using Windows Media Player. It hangs at Connecting and the CPU usage goes to 100%. These are files I have already on my PC.
