Im getting nothing but errors every time I try to play any type of video file. It comes up and says it is a quartz.dll error. I can not find a way to uninstall WMP11 so I can reinstall it. Any clues?

What is the error, exactly? Are you missing the quartz.dll (stock Windows) file? Is it not registered?

If it exists, try this:

regsvr32 %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\quartz.dll

Well, a function called in the quartz.dll module caused an error. Quartz.dll might be fine though. It could be that WMP fed quartz bad data, meaning WMP is buggy or corrupt.

Start / Run ... then type 'sfc /scannow' (no quotes), press enter ... have your Windows CD handy as it should ask for it, put it in. See if that helps... check for virii & spyware and all that rot...

I tried this but it says:

Windows File Protection could not initiate a scan of protected system files.

The specific error code is 0x000006ba[The RPC server is unavailable.]

Sounds like Remote Procedure Call has been disabled ... someone been messing with the Services ??? Start / Run type 'services.msc' (no quotes), press enter ... look through that list, Remote Procedure Call should be Automatic. If not, make it so and restart and try the file checker again.......

Or.......... check this out... See if that helps... try the first thing first though as it's way easier!
