WMP 11 installation problem

Alright, so I'm running Media Center with SP2 and I go to install WMP11 from Microsofts site and the installation just idles at 16 percent so I have to use task manager to end it. Then everything is screwed up because I can't reinstall 10 to get some WMV codecs that I'm now missing back. This sucks, at least I used system restore so I got back to my original settings, but why won't WMP 11 install for me? Any folks running into something similar?

BSOM! I downloaded and installed WMP11 this afternoon, and it works beautifully - very impressive. It did take quite a while to finish the installation, however. Media Center must be different than XP Pro.

How long did it take to install? I let it sit at 16 percent for at least 5 to 10 minutes, surely it coudn't take that long.

All told, it was about 10-12 minutes. It went through and re-catalogued all my existing holdings abd playlists. The more you have, the longer it will take.

While it was at staying at 16 percent I checked the task manager, and the CPU was always at 0 so I don't beleive it could have been doing anything. What do you mean by does it download the full installation?

OK - the jump to 33% is normal - and then it stays there for a l-o-o-n-g time and jumps to 56%. It is not there long and it jumps to 83%. It stays there a couple of minutes or so and then finishes. But - it's not done yet. Probably about 4 more minutes to get the rest of the stuff installed. I put it on two more machines this morning, and it behaved the same on all of them. Average - 12 to 15 minutes total.

I hate this stupid wga. My windows copy is good, genuine copy! I paid MONEY for it. Well, there's a first time for everything. :(

Well, Like all other things WGA, after 1min. of googling I found away around it. Basically on one of the sites was some coding for a batch file that you can make that installs and excecutes the programs inside the WMP11 file manually (after you extract it) and it's the same thing.
