I took apart my computer, put it back together with the exact same components except the cpu. I am using the same Windows installation of course since none of my hardware changed. I have no problems at all except now when I go to play an avi file with AC3 audio, WMP says acquiring codec -> codec acquired, and then plays the file with no sound.
This never happened before, WMP would just play the file without downloading anything, and my x-fi would decode the ac3 stream. Anybody know why this is happening? Please dont suggest downloading ac3 filter, I know that will work, but ac3 files used to work just fine without the need for any additional codecs. the x-fi would take care of it.
I reinstalled WMP and my audio drivers, and its still happening. this is bothering me, I never had this problem before in my life. :|
