Hi all,

I'm building a HTPC here in a few days. I'm planning on a 15GB partition for the OS (WinXP Pro) and a 80GB partition for media.

I'll be running WMP-10 and setting up a a bunch of playlists; I've not much experience w/playlists.

When you create them, does WMP store the actual SONGS themselves in the playlist, which would be on your OS partition, or does it just store "POINTERS" to the songs, wherever they happen to live.

This is important b/c I don't want to wind up running out of space on the OS partition due to playlists. Thanks. :)

It stores them on Microsoft's servers, where they catalogue everything you load into WMP!

:p

Seriously, why use WMP? If you're starting from scratch, get one of the more HTPC-oriented players out there.

Thanks guys.

What would be "one of the more HTPC-oriented players out there?" Winamp can kiss my booty...too fiddly and small and buggy.

WMP is FREE and it works for me. :p I don't AIM, KAZZA, PAZZA, EDONKEY, PHONEAHONKEY, FRAGGA or anything else of those BS P2P thingees. No wireless, firewalled to the max. That's my network.

Anyway, you guys answered my ?. Thanks. :)

How the font could your hard drive space be filling up with playlists? They are like 5 kb or something MAX??? Unless of course I misunderstood in which case I would like a PM cuz I will forget to check back here.
