WMC vs XBMC?

I've tried both and wanted to know what y'all thought of these two systems.

XBMC seems to run smoother and is less ram hungry. Wmc is overall very nice to look at, but the XBMC skinning options blow that out of the water.

If you want to stick with WMC you should look into using Mediabrowser as your frontend for your movies. Much better than using the built-in Movies of WMC.

Also any WMC compatible remote can control Mediabrowser without much configuring.

I did use mediabrowser before but now prefer mediaportal because of the better eye candy.

What sold (well, not sold as its free) me on mediaportal is the live tv streaming, and recorded show streaming. (with laptops or smartphone)

Another vote for XBMC. I run the Mac version, Plex (more plug-in support). I do Plex + Tivo. I really liked the concept of WMC, but it just didn't execute as well as I wanted to IRL.

Anybody using Mediaportal, GB-PVR, or MythTV? I found WMC lacking.

I used gb-pvr for years. On windows xp so wasnt much options back then. It worked great for recording tv and basic playback. I never got to detailed and tried for metadata or anything though. just simply playing back files. It worked just fine.

Though now ive upgraded to windows 7 and use mediabrowser. Its perfect and wonderful for me. It along with media center master (for metadata/art) is great.

Really there isnt that much difference between XBMC and MB that ive honestly seen. both accomplish the same basic thing and both do it well. I know at one point (still?) XBMC didnt bitstream audio which was the primary reason i'd gone with MB without event trying XBMC. That and MB works perfect with any WMC remote (as far as i know at least) right out of the box so thats an added plus. XXBMC probably works just fine too but i cant confirm that :)

I've been really banging my head against the wall with the simplest things in Mediaportal. I've got a crappy streamzap remote, which randomly just stops working - even with eventghost. So to fix that I'm buying a plain WMC remote soon, specifically for the receiver, which will be run with the logitech harmony remote. Mediaportal has iPimp, which is an iPhone remote and front-end. Is there something similar for WMC? The transcoding in iPimp (which runs either handbrake or ffmpeg to transcode every recorded program to an iP4 compat mp4 - which also works "well enough" for laptop viewing) is "buggy" in that it often keeps scheduled recordings from working, and often crashes and sometimes just doesn't run.

So is there any WMC component that can handle that (iphone remote, and transcoding automatically for mobiles)?
