WLAN WORKING OK BUT PC´S CAN´T SHARE FILES

Both my pc´s can see each other thru my Wireless router, they share the internet connection, but they can only see the others "printer" and some other folder of no use, BUT neither can see the others "shared folder" which is suppossed to be shared automatically I think.
What to do then?? I´ve right clicked (on both) on the Shared Folder properties and checked out that , and the only message I get, "Move files to shared folder to make them available to other pc´s" or something like that . . .
Please hlp.
I run:
Athlon 3500+
MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum
Win XP pro on PC and Win XP Home on laptop.
Norton Antivirus 2005 with internet worm protection enabled instead of windows firewall
D-Link Xtreme G DI-624 Wireless Router
D-Link Xtreme G DWL-G520 (Desktop Wireless card)

Thanks

did you create share on the drives or subdirector you want to share ? enable guest account on both sides, sometimes blank password sucks so set guest password to like 1234..

I´m sorry I don´t understand what u mean by "create share on the drives or subdirector you want to share ", My "Shared folder" is on C:, U mean I should right click my C drive and enable sharing?? I thought that one was able to share a single folder . .
Pls correct me If I´m wrong or misunderstood you . .

Thx

You probably have the built in firewall enabled. I had the same problem, I couldn't see any computer on my network. As for the files in the shared. It should come up automatically. Maybe we can help you out a little more if you would tell us what OS your running.

Spynhx: I´m running Win XP pro on PC and Win XP Home on laptop.
Tiamat: How different can Xp Pro and Home be, at least in something as "easy" as setting a network? thx

Spynhx: I am able to see one pc from the other at all times, what can not do is see the "shared folder" of neither one, just shared printers . . . Thx again

Try unsharing and resharing the folders you're having problems with. I had the same problem, and that fixed it for me.

Are you running Zone Alarm, or a software firewall of that nature? Did you run through the network setup wizard on win xp?

ntfs and share permissions. make sure its everyone, create 2 useraccounts on both PC's, same name and password.

disable simple sharing on the xp home by going to folder options.

Did you install NetBIOS? Win XP Pro is set up by default to network with a server since it is the more business oriented version of XP, so if you are using it on a simple home peer-to-peer network you have to go into the Network Connections and select the network adapter you are using and manually install the NetBIOS protocol that is used to let them share files and other network resources like printers. Don't forget to give each machine a unique network ID number.

I ran into the exact same problem when I got a second computer and tried to network them. I assumed wrongly that I could just hook both machines up and run the networking wizard and I'd be set, and after a bit of research I found my answer over in the Networking forums.
