Wild turkeys can fly but the mutant freaks we eat can't
I used to see them when I lived in Nebraska. One of the times when there'd been a heavy snow, they were waddling down the plowed road in a flockI saw one fly directly into the windshield of the car in front of me on the Merritt Parkway @ 70 mph ... guy nearly crashed.... the turkey OTOH pretty much exploded.
Fortunately I had the windows closed and AC on recirculate!
Seriously I see wild turkeys smashed on the side of the highway all the time during late summer/early fall.... live ones are a common sighting as well.
