I'm trying to help my sister get Wizardry 8 running on her Windows XP machine. She lives 600 miles away so I stuck with helping her over the phone and email. Her computer is a P4 3.0Ghz, 1Gb ram, Radeon 9800 pro, SoundBlaster Audigy2 ZS. She says the install seems perfect. It seems to fully install but the manual says that after install, the intro will begin and then the main page will come up. That doesnt happen. Nothing happens. She has tried installing it on two different computers both running Windows XP with the same result. I have tried searching with Google and found that there is a Wizardry 8 Unofficial OpenGL patch. Since this is an older game I was not sure if this would be safe for her to try on a Windows XP machine. Is this patch safe to try and could it solve her problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Windows98 compatibilty mode didn't work, think she is about to give up. Think she is going to buy a new game maybe something more to date.

Wizardy 8 is horrible. Tell her to substitute some screenshots and button pressing. It will be about the same experience. Every once in a while she should pretend to level up her characters and then go back to the screenshot.
