My friend just told me about this and I'm scared! :( Does anyone have this movie? If so, could you do to the part where they meet the lion and see if you can see a suicide in the background? I've tried to find a link, but all of them point to the other suicide part (not this one)...

yeah are you talking about the part where the munchkin "hangs" himself? one time i watched it over and over again, slow-mo and everything. personally, i dont think its really a guy committing suicide, though you could make the case that it does kinda look like that....

while we're on the subject, is it true that the album Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd goes along with the movie? one of my friends told me that...

oh no...not that again ;)

Plenty of sites showing quite a few similarities and such. I've always wanted to do that...play Dark Side of the Moon alongside The Wizard of Oz (supposedly, start the album after the lion roars the 3rd time? )

No, the munchkin was capped by Mister Rogers back when he was still a sniper for the CIA.

Actually it works, certain things match up, like when dorthy has gold or sees money u hear a cash registar sound int he music album, and there is "evil" music playing when the witcked witch is in the screene, and there are many other things that go together

The question isn't whether they synch up, the question is whether Pink Floyd did it intentionally.

Haven't heard the suicide rumor myself, but supposedly you can see a Munchkin who overdosed on heroin fall off a balcony in the background of the scene when Dorothy meets the Munchkins.

LOL! For some reason the thought of tiny munchkins using heroin and stumbling around drugged up made me laugh :D

I was in a class where this was brought up, so we researched it. It's most definately a bird. Not a swinging body.

Why dont you watch the clip in the snopes2 link. It clearly shows a big bird spreading its wings.

The scene I'm talking about occurs at a different point in the movie, before Dorothy meets the Lion.

Unfortunately, to find out I would have to listen to Dark Side of the Moon AND watch Wizard of Oz, neither of which I am willing to do on their own, much less at the same time.

I saw the 2 synched up in a concert hall with lots of psychedelic lights and such a few years ago. It was pretty cool. I see the similarities, but I dont think they are all that great. I believe Pink Floyd denied purposely synching Dark Side of the Moon to Wizard of Oz.

OK, the expert is here. No one hangs themselves in The Wizard of Oz. I don't even know where that came from. That scene has some birds in the background, but none of them remotely look like anyone hanging.

And apparently, I'm one of the few people here who has played Dark Side of the Moon with the movie. Yes, it is definitely synched. I don't see how it could be unintentional. And the song Money (with the cash register sounds) doesn't start when Dorothy has gold or money. It starts when she opens the door to the munchkin land, and the movie goes from black & white to color. Another interesting note, the end of the first song has some strange sounds that seem to go on for an arbitrary length of time. However, after watching with the movie, you can see that the timing was all planned. Song1 ends abruptly and song 2 begins with an alarm clock ringing as soon as they show the witches bicycle (well, she isn't the witch yet). It's definitely worth checking out.

There are web sites that explain the similarities. Some are real, and some are real stretches. I don't think it works to loop the CD after it ends. It ends before the movie ends, and the phenomenon ends there. But one thing I'm intrigued by is when they show the fence on Doronthy's uncle's farm, you can see a triangle hanging. And the way the wooden beams in the fence are angled against the triangle, it looks like the prism on the Floyd album cover.
