For motherboard, sometimes you can get that information from CPU-Z. For video card, if you remember vaguely what it is (Geforce or Radeon) then just download their unified driver set and install. Alternately, pay attentin during POST. Some video card BIOSes will state what they are.

If you're running XP, click on START and then RUN. Then type DXDIAG in the RUN box and click OK. I believe on the first tab (screen) you should see your system configurations including mobo name. Other tabs will display your video card info.
Or if you're using VISTA, I believe the SEARCH button brings up a box where you type in DXDIAG.
