'fraid of that. Oh well, not a real big issue just an annoyance. Small price to pay for getting better useage out of my NIC, Graphics Board, and Sound Card.
I'm running Windows 2000 and my motherboard doesn't have an ACPI compatible BIOS. If I enable APM in the BIOS and under Win2k's power management settings my computer will power off automatically when I shut it down.
You don't need to have ACPI. As long as you have APM (and most BIOSes support APM all the way down to Pentiums), you can activate this for Win2K shutdown.
When I tried activating APM in windows 2000 my computer would restart on shutdown - very annoying. I removed it and lived with having to switch it off. That was on an Asus P5A m/b.
Now I've got my A7V I did a fresh install of windows 2000 and made sure of ACPI this time.
Yes, ACPI put every peripheral I had on irq 11. I didn't notice that until I ran in to a problem w/ my computer locking when I started sharing files on a network/adding a TV card. I was huntin around and notice my NIC, sound, video and scsi were all sharing irq11 !! And 1 of 2 things for the TV card was on there too... no good. I took out ACPI and everything started functioning well.
