With Your Life On The Line, This Is The Ambulance Driver You Want At The Wheel

Imagine the rushes those drivers must go though. So many ups and downs throughout the day as they get calls.

Divided high ways make it even worse, it feels like you're just going in circles a bunch of times to go a couple blocks. It's why I never drive in Toronto area, I take the bus or plane. Too confusing!

What country is that? The siren isn't like the type you hear from France or some damn place, it's Americanized.

My guess is Czech Republic or Slovakia or one of Balkan states. The video was too blurry so I couldn't decipher vehicle plates.

Edit: It's Budapest, Hungary.

driver is freaking good!!!

I don't think I could do that job - mainly because of how pissed I would get at the incredibly stupid reactions other drivers have to a siren - like the blue car at 23 seconds or the numerous people who just stopped in front of the ambulance

I think this was posted here earlier this year, and someone said that it's not a large American ambulance, but a smaller one in another country, which is part of the reason that it can maneuver so well.

He certainly does well, but nothing incredibly mind blowing there. Was nice to see the public yielding appropriately. Also, as mentioned, he's not driving a Type I or III like you often see here in the US. He has a much smaller and more maneuverable vehicle.

Driving with lights and sirens certainly can be a rush, but it is exhausting as well; especially when you have morons who don't care to yield. I can't even relate how many times I've seen people not yield at intersections or even in the middle of the road knowing full well there was an ambulance nearby. Hell, I've had people on a sidewalk with an ambulance on the side walk with lights and sirens on turn around and flip off the ambulance while continuing to slowly walk and obstruct it's path. Now that's rage inducing.

Looks like how i drive in grand theft auto except half the speed and a lot fewer side swipes.

A buddy of mine drives a ambulance and firetruck. he tells me stories of how often people refuse to get out of the way. It's not they can't move. they just refuse to. it's like they don't give a fuck someone may die. they can't pull over and waste 10 seconds.

He says its not just once on a while. it's nearly EVERY fucking time.

Yea. I imagine "rage inducing" it would be. Hey asshole, next time it might be YOU who is in a life or death situation while in an ambulance, sucks the driver didn't quiet make it in time due to this epic douchebag who refused to move the fuck out of the way.

Since everything has a camera on it nowadays and plate #'s can be recorded those fuck-wads should be hit with a $1,000 fine.

easy solution for such peds is to just gently nudge (or ram) them into the asphalt, open doors and toss them into the back and continue your journey. It's like a mobile bad-pedestrian-solution-box that you are operating.

I can very easily believe that.

I was impressed in the video that most moved aside as soon as they did.

That's a great idea actually.

Yea, kinda hard to miss the lights and noise an ambulance makes, even with a stereo blaring the flashing lights in all your mirrors would alert you to what's happening, No excuse, these assholes need to be fined heavily.

I drove emergency vehicles for 30 years. That could never happen in this country, the drivers here are either too stupid to know what to do when they seen an emergency vehicle, or to self-centered selfish pricks that can't be bothered as their trip is just as important.

Example: two lane road, very light traffic, over taking one car and one car going the opposite direction. What do they do? These fucking idiots stop side by side, without even pulling to the shoulder completely blocking the road, and I'm trying to get 65,000lbs of truck to stop.

I also has the semi-sweet event of when a guy really refused to pull over until I laid on the air-horns for about 20 seconds, plus the Q1 (mechanical siren), and electronic siren. Guess whose house was on fire? his.

I'm for this.

Hope his house burned to the ground.
