agreed. ignorant people. The soldier acted correctly. Let's all remember the sacrifice our men and women who serve in the Armed Forces make every day for all Americans.

I think we need a veteran's Day Strike! Quit going to work on Veterans Day! Go put your uniform on and stop traffic on all highways. Veterans are not respected unless we as citizens and businesses respecty their day of honor!

Proud of that soldier for doing what he did, and in the voice he used. What kind of asshole would laugh in a situation like that? Damn kids these days.

History lessons can be rough when its going "Military YAY!"

Let me guess, you're in your sixties and remember it being Armistice Day. Since 1954 it's been Veteran's day and a day to honor those who have served in the US Military. Every year those who have never served or have no respect for those who have served will try their best to derail Veteran's Day threads. This one is no different.

OP, it's Veterans Day, not Memorial Day. I can see why you'd have the two confused. Memorial Day was that day you spent barbecuing and partying instead of remembering the people who died serving us.

I could be all offended by your silly attempt at insult since I am a current veteran and I have personally known people who have died serving. But I'm not.

The jist of the OP was more about respect.

Thank you for serving. But why would you post a thread about respecting people who died serving us for Veterans Day?

Most people in this country seem to be confused about the two holidays. They thank veterans on Memorial Day, in between drinking and eating BBQed meat, and then on Veteran's Day they talk about people who died. They're two separate holidays.

So a dead Veteran doesn't count on Veteran's day, only Memorial day? Sorry I forgot to read the lolberal rules of holidays.

The people memorialized by the Tomb of the Unknowns never got to be veterans, because they died in combat.

I think the best way to celebrate the holiday is, along with honoring the good intentions and sacrifices of veterans, to warn anyone else to be wary of serving.

There's a lot to be said for not giving the government power to order you to kill strangers, and to understand that many of the missions can be of questionable morals.

Yep, your reason is obvious, you've never done anything for this country and want to piss on those who have served the country.

I'm not terribly fond of Craig's views on foreign policy, but that article he linked is not disrespectful of veterans.

You really are an ignorant ass.

Words have meanings.

You along with a huge chunk of America don't seem to understand the difference between a veteran and someone killed in war. I find it really disturbing.

Since there is no standardized legal definition of the word Veteran in the US it is generally thought to mean someone who has served in the military. There isn't a length requirement (although some define 90 or 180 days) or a requirement for combat either.

But I guess you can go ahead and make an ignorant definition and say that a fallen soldier is not a veteran. I think the majority would disagree with you since they served in the armed forces. Sure they weren't discharged from a traditional standpoint but that doesn't mean they didn't serve either. Only a dishonorable discharge takes away veteran status and I sure don't think dying in combat is dishonorable. But go ahead, keep being an ass.
