With this X800XL, everything is just to hot..

And my 1 stock exhaust fan just isnt pushing enough air out because that X800XL brought the temps up of everything in my case by 3-5*C idle! So i was thinking of buying this case fan. Has anyone else used this fan? Or do you guys recomend a different fan? And should I have it as an intake or exhaust fan?

 for someone that does his research. That fan is a great fan, with suberb noise to cfm levels.

I'd use it as an exhaust fan.

my sapphire x800xt runs at about the same as yours Parkre at 525/530 but I'm hoping to bring it down a lot when i kick (literally, as soon as i finish i plan to kick it many many times) my dell case out and get a p180.

My X800 XT AIW AGP runs 38 idle, 65 load w\a ATI Silencer 1 Rev. 2. I highly recommend getting the Silencer since it exhausts hot air instead of recirculating it, though the Zalman VF-700 sometimes cools even better.

You should definitly have more than 1 fan in the system. I would reccomend putting your rear fan in the front and putting the fan you linked to in the back.

my x800xl is running at 45C idle right now. I have one 80mm side fan, a 120mm exhaust fan, and a 120mm fan in the front of the case blowing air in

pretty good i guess

I personally would get the Zalman VF700 Cu!!

It blows the ARCTIC COOLING AVC-AT5 Rev. 2 72mm Ceramic High Performance VGA Cooler for ATi -- all to pieces!!!

For an x800xl? I don't think so. The x800xl cards are not good overclockers and heat is not the limitation, it's simply the chips don't like the clock. I reduced my GPU load temp from 70 to 55C, all while being nearly silent, and all of that warm air from the GPU exits the case directly unlike the Zalman. "All to pieces"??? I don't think so for the x800xl.

Actually there have been many posts as well as reviews stating that as long as you have your cooling set up correctly how the warm air exits the case is not an issue.

Also I am running temps as low as 40c after I switched to the zalman .......from a low of 55c using Arctic cooling!

But thats ok.......the so called hot air in the case issue is a moot point...unless you have no exhaust fans in your computer.

🙂

My idle GPU temp is 40C and max load is 55C in 78F ambient air with the 5.2 Silencer. And, I can't hear it at 100% output. I am glad the Zalman works for you, but your "all to pieces" claim is unfounded. Front and rear 120's in addition to GPU exhaust directly out of my case makes for one cool and quiet solution. I am a fan of Zalman, I use a 7000Cu on my 3500+ Winchester CPU and love it, but for an x800xl, nothing beats a Silencer. Like I said before, heat is not an issue with OC on these particular cards, the chips simply don't OC well.

Im glad your solution works for you!
Thats what its all about is finding a solution that works for you!!
I did`nt mean to coma accross so strong!!

We all have various solutions that work well for us!!

It is, just different color/stickers minus the backplate. The Silencer series can make a world of difference in "system" temps in some cases. Again, it all depends on your situation. In my case, I am the same as mucker. And I've used both coolers with quite a bit of testing. The Silencer beats the VF700 handily in my P180 for cooler "overall" temps. It is a bit noisier than the VF700 @ idle, but very similiar at load. (As a sidenote, the VF700 is a much better made HS in terms of quality). I fixed this by controlling the Silencer's fan w/ Speedfan.

Wow, that's what my x800pro runs with the crappy, stock sapphire cooler at 560/570.

For the $15+ the fan costs you can get 2 delta or panaflo fans on ebay.

Just get a slot cooler. You can just put it right next to the vid card and it'll not only keep your card cooler, but cool the whole case as well. They're cheap and work awesome.
