with these $300 dell computers, is there any point to buying a $200 video card anymore?

My ATI AIW 8500 (128mb) video card just died. I recall paying ~$200 for it a few years ago. My system is an Intel mobo (850 chipset) with an Intel 1.4ghz P4. This system is essentially perfect for my needs, and was built after one of those intel conventions years ago.

Is there any real point to buying a brand new system or should I just pick up a new video card?

Thanks,

if you still need tv cap you can get a hauppauge pvr150 ~70 and a video card for <$70 I have a 5200 that does lightwork and tvout just fine. its now <$40 The longer you wait to buy your next pc the better it'll be. I always wait until there is a real need or it pisses me off

A $300 dell will be much better than the comp you have now, though the video card won't be, but it should be sufficient for what you need assuming you don't play games.

your other option would be to grab a Dell and then just swap out the card. might be like 500 total, and i've found Dells to be resistant to major upgrades, but it's a really cheap way to hook into PCI Express and will give you some decent future-proofing.
