With the surge of job losses

I'm interviewing for a new job.....😛

My job prospects are fairly secure. If I lose my job I can have a new one within a week or 2 no problem at all.

Which makes me sort of the exception in this job market.

You're a nurse, right? I think health care is an awesome field right now... wish I could get into it software-wise (I'm a software developer).

As for me, I'm accepting that I won't get a raise this year, though I did get a 20% raise just before my first year was up, and I'm working as hard as I've ever worked and stay late everyday (worked 8 am - 4:45 am one day last week).

I'm fortunate enough to have a steady flow of freelance right now outside of my full time position, but yes I am also trying to secure my job with extra work and reaching out to other departments.

I got a government job coming up analysis public policy..

I should be good as long as you all keep bitching 😉

So what am I doing? Trolling in P&N and other forums to keep complaints up to keep a need for my job :Q

We've still got enough work for everyone (and a few to-be-hireds) until at least the end of the year. I'm basically just saving money in case sales dry up by then. By the end of the year I should have enough cash on hand to last a year or so without work.

Did you get the job?
GS-11 or GS-9?

I'm still a contractor. Hope to get GS-11 or GS-12 in July

Me too, with my experience in die-making and die-repair I figure it might give me an edge when it comes to equipment repair/installation.

Rather than try and get another internship with another company I decided to accept an offer w/ the same ocompany i worked for this summer. Hopefully this leads to a job.

i just assume i wont have my contract renewed every year, that way its a pleasant surprise when it is.
if it isnt renewed this year, perhaps ill seek a position in organized crime.

Nope. I'm doing everything the same as I would do in the best of economic conditions. However, I'm also planning on attending law school this fall, so getting fired isn't really a concern of mine (not that it would be sans law school).

Is that for the Canadian government?

Yes. Though with dual-citizenship I could look into opportunities for both, I find it easier for this one due to connections I made through internships.

Damn, you're not a ninja? I was hoping there was a high demand for ninjas.

I think if I lost my job right now, I'd give serious thought to renting a storage unit, breaking my lease, and going back to school full-time on loans.

What would you go back to school for? What do you do currently?

i am getting more stuff done asap rather than putting it off until it needs to be done

I am applying to part time grad schools
if I get laid off, I plan to break my lease, pack my things and move closer to the university to attend full time
