Nah. The iPhone X has dual cameras and an infrared sensor system the S9 doesn't, so Apple could rightly argue that it's offering more in some respects.

On Best Buy's website, the Note 8 is listed as having a retail price of $949.99. The iPhone X starts at $999. That's a $49.01 difference, not $160.

And newegg has it for 839. My point is you can get the Note 8 or any other flagship phone for cheaper than MSRP, but not with apple. The x starts at 1k and goes way up from there.

There have been deals on the iPhone X as well, though. Apple is less flexible than Samsung (which starts the discounts virtually the millisecond a product goes on sale), but there have been offers that sweetened the pot. It'd be fairer to say that the Note 8 typically costs less than to say there's a guaranteed $160 price gap.

The X is in no way a same class hardware as the Note 8. A thought experiment: How much would Apple have asked for a phone like the Note 8 in late 2017? Surely it would have been (quite a bit) more than the X, coming with a pen and all.

It is a possibility that Apple will lower the price of next iteration of the X, perhaps the X Plus taking the current price of the X. Rumor has it that there will be 3 models, so something like 700, 850, 1000 spread might be what they are shooting for.
