With the onboard Network on the K7S5A be as efficient/ as fast as a Netgear FA310-TX?

Yes it is. I just installed ones of these boards in my fiance's computer and the onboard LAN works great. She had a Netgear FA311 before and it works just as good as that one did.
 
I have no complaints. I could be wrong, but I don't think performance is near as much an issue with NICs any more. If it is 10/100 then it will work. It's more a matter of reliability. Haven't had mine long enough to say about that though.
