With the new Axim X50, will browsing the web be as good as a wireless labtop?

No, but keep in mind:
* most websites now are designed for 800x600 minimum, many even have non-scrolling parts that are sized for 1024x768
* the browser is a bit stripped down to fit in ROM, won't get security updates, and won't support any written-for-real-Windows plugins. plugins must be specifically re-written / re-compiled for Windows CE. Pocket Flash was missing a lot of desktop features last time I looked, so if you play many Flash-based games you'll be out of luck.

For the resolution part, try switching your PC monitor to 640x480 (if you can) or 800x600 and doing some browsing.

So, compared to a real laptop, that's a big maybe.

I have one and browsing Anandtech and the forums is quite enjoyable at 64x480 using SE_VGA. No complaints here.
