With regards to unactivated accounts....

*doh*

Anyway what happens to them? Are they deleted after a set time? I ask this because I attempted to get my standard SN "KillaKilla", but then on opening my e-mail I found it had just been deactivated (POS SBC, never get anything from them! EVER!). anyway it still says the name is in use, and I was wondering if someone else had taken the name or if the UA account is still taking it?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. You created the KillaKilla account but can't access it? Have you tried password retrieval?

Afaik, sometimes they will delete accounts that have been inactive for years, but as a general rule, I don't think they bother. Bumps up the member count. ;)

BTW, you can edit a post if you accidently hit reply before you write your message. You don't have to make a brand new post. :)

1. I was aswitching over to their newer (far crappier) Yahoo! email, and they got rid of the old (1st inital, last name)@ameritech.net accounts. directly after I found anandtech, I signed up for the forums as killakilla. They when I went to do the activation (where it sends you the email with a link you must go to to activate your account, etc...), I found the email had been deactivated. as such, I could not go through the "account activation" process.

2. I don't mean inactive accounts as in accounts that aren't used, I mean accounts that have not gone through the activation process.

3. As I've said (somewhere maybe in another thread) the edit button is doesn't work with this computer on PPHPBB and FuseTalk forums.

The simple solution is to just PM AnandTech Moderator and tell them that you had a problem when setting up the KillaKilla nick and ask them if they can delete that account and change your nick to KillaKilla. They'll probably do it for you.

It's easy to see that the KillaKilla account has never been used by looking at the Profile:
