Which format will be the more popular format DVD-R or DVD+R? My DVD player in my home theatre doesn't support DVD+R/DVD+RW.

Will I be safe with the DVD-R format?

Just make sure you use some good quality media and you'll be just fine. You can get the Ritek G04s at newegg for around $50 for a 50 pack. I'm not too sure about other media because those are the only discs that I have used. If you go to dvdrhelp, which jfall linked to, there should also be a media list somewhere and you can check out what people think about various brands of media.

personally i prefer the -R since it plays much better in my home dvd players

i use a pioneer A06 dvd-r/+r. and like was posted above, i also really like the 4x ritek G04 dvd-r discs (last i saw they were $47 shipped from newegg for a 50 pack)

I'm from Australia so I can't really buy from newegg. The decent priced brands I can get are gotech, imation, laser 7 TDK (expensive). Which would be the better brand out of these? Imation?
