Thirs largest city in Germany porting it's 17,000 desktops to Linux instead of staying with Microsoft.

Serena Williams booed the entire semi-final match at the French Open.
ESPN

Munich is going to spend an absolute fortune maintaining those desktops, but at least those dirty American dogs won't be getting any sweet sweet German money. The fact that Munich is willing to spend more for an inferior product is a sign that this decision wasn't based on logic or what's really best for them, but, rather, on spite. And as for Serena, well she represents the worst of America with all her winning and dominance and hard work...time to show her what's what.

Sure, Americans wanting to boycott French products are called ignorant bigots, but when Europeans do it it's chic!

Koreans were booing American teams in the world cup 2002... this isnt news and not just limited to europe.

Around the world, America has earned a reputation as a arrogant bully who doesnt respect the interests of the rest of the world.

I would love to say that they're all ill informed, but our actions lately havent been exactly disproving their assumptions.

I think we should act better than those who hate us, hold our head high and not resort to their antics. It wouldnt hurt to be a humble giant either, we would get more respect in the world.

The only way the US would get more respect is if we become a 3rdworld country...

GO USA!

NYC teams are routinely booed all over the US. Booing in sports is nothing.

Someone got booed at a Sports match and some place decided that Linux was better for its needs that windows? THE APOCALYPSE IS UPON US! :D

This is a boycott? This is chic? So all the millions of Linux users, across the world, are boycotting the US? To think that I never guessed... ;)

Couple of flaws in your post I need to point out:
- The article said 14,000 desktops and notebooks, not 17,000
- Linux does not take "an absolute fortune" to maintain, nor is it an "inferior product." That's just stupid. It has been truthfully speculated that Linux does costs slightly more to maintain that Windows, but those costs are quickly re-couped by the much lower licensing fees. And considering what an overly agressive pain-in-the-ass that Microsoft (and its trained dog, the BSA) has been about their licensing fees, I don't blame the many local governments and school districts around the world that are making the switch. Personally, I see this type of large-scale deployment as exactly what Linux needs to hit the desktop market big-time, because it is nowhere near an "inferior product," just less polished.
But I get the impression from your post that you are just stupid.
That's all.

edit: oh yeah, and the idea of boycotting French products is stupid, as is the idea of French boycotting US products. But if the French want to decide that they have a fscking problem with the US, the country that bailed their asses out of the fire with Nazi Germany, all they gotta do is say so, and we'll be occupying Paris in 2 weeks. They don't think so? Try us.

Why don't they just steal Windows like everybody else?

WWII has no bearing in a discussion about petty diplomatic issues. BTW, the US would never attack France, not in my lifetime without a **very** good reason.
