I have $13k to spend on a car and am trying to decide what I should buy. I don't mind buying a car that is a few years old, but nothing older than a 1999. Of course, I do not have to spend the entire $13k. I'm single and currently have a 1999 Honda CRV, which is going to be sold. I cannot come up with more than $13k, so as much as I'd like to come up with more, it's not happening......

So, what would you get and why?

What kind of car do you want sedan or coupe, automatic or manual, something very reliable, sporty, spacious?

Need more specific info on what you're looking for.

I'm open to anything in that price range........but, to help narrow it down, something sporty, and reliable would be cool. Good resale value is important as well....which eliminates Hyundai's.....

You can buy a brand new Hyundai Elantra for around $13k. I have a 98 Elantra, and I highly recommend it. A coworker bought one, and he's pretty happy with it.

Nissan 240SX - Quick, reliable, roomy for a coupe...
VW Jetta VR6 - Reliable, nice engine, luxurious...

thats all i can think of for now

if you want to stay in the same type of class, you can pick up an Explorer Sport 4x4 for real close to 13k... my step mom just bought one for 12,999 and i like it a lot.

I wish Rallispec were still here.

I'd say a Nissan Sentra or a brand new Hyundai Elantra GLS (awesome warranty and it's BRAND NEW for under $13k).

I've seen manual 2002 Hyundai Elantra GLS's going for $10,688, auto's for $11,688 and new 2003 auto's going for $12,688

The newest Elantra got second place in the Car and Driver comparison test that came in the mail today, beating out the Corrolla and Civic and finishing behind only the Mazda Protege.

why are you selling your current car?

I don't like having a SUV as much as I thought I would. In addition, I usually only have 1 other person in my car at a time so I don't need all of the extra room a SUV has.....

Anybody looking to buy one??? :)

It dosent have a lot of power like an RSX Type S or anything, but its enough to get by for normal, everyday driving. It is 140 HP, enough for getting around town and on the highway.

Why sell the car you have? It's nice.

Thanks, it is nice....however, I just don't use it in the way I thought I would. Believe me, if I keep it, I'll be just fine. :)
