I can't believe the DPS this plant thing puts out!

I have tried steel and silver, strong and fast, with Swallow and Bindweed (poison resist instead?...hate the small icons and hard to read combat text).

The first time I came across this plant on the path it killed me before I even noticed the screen going gray.

I don't even see a health circle around it to tell me I am doing anything to it.
 
Yeah, I'm in chapter two and I'm having the same problems... no matter what they seem to kick my ass no matter what weapon I use. The only thing I haven't tried was making some blindweed potions, because the plants do a pretty strong poison attack that does 15 damage per tick and the blindweed pots might help prevent that. Is there an easier way to kill it or is this the proper solution?
 
Blizzard helped me the most with Swallow. Bindweed is also good to cut down on the poison but your toxicity levels get really high with all those pots. They're really hard, I think you're actually supposed to avoid them at that level but you can kill them safely with Blizzard being the main benefit imo. As usual, use grindstone or diamond dust to sharpen your Silver Sword, Strong Stance and you can also use Igni which does nice damage to them.
 
Died again with Blizzard + the silver augment oil.
I keep forgetting about signs though. I dont have much power so one or two casts and its down.
 
I'll give it a try with Blizzard+silver+strong. It's whooped my butt every time and thought I just had to avoid it - didn't think I would be able to kill it.

I got it very early, possibly a quest. Any of the NPCs that sell books and such should have it also. Try the Antiquary in the Temple Quarters.

Ya the first time I messed with it, it whupped me pretty bad. I skipped it for the escort quest then gained a level or two finishing other quests and put points in some some defensive abilities. After that with with Swallow + Blizzard + Silver/Strong was very easy.
 
It's a unique monster that moves around, not an actual monster type. You probably won't be able to kill it until you beef up your vitality and strong silver form. I'd also try mixing up an "uber-swallow" potion(swallow with Nigredo components as Nigredo increases vitality regen)
