hey guys im hopin you guys can give me an idea on what kind of card i should get, im looking for a AGP 8x and a price range at around 300$ cnd

my specs are
winnie 3500+
neo2 plat
gig of DDR333
120 gig hd
400 watt psu

6600GT is going for around $200 US - that's what I'd be getting if I hadn't just dropped $400 on a monitor. Have to wait till the wife forgets about that before I bring up a new vid card.

haha no kidding eh!

do u think the 6600 is better than the Ti4600? that was my old card. im just wondering if i will get better porformance for a 200$ card than my 400 3 years ago!

6600GT's are 349 at the cheapest. And those are crappy XFX cards. A decent brand 6600GT will run you 360-375 depending on if it's on sale or not. I would get a used 6800nu from the fs/ft fourms.

ooooo 🙂 thouse are nice 😛 so do you think they will be better than my old Ti4600? i prolly scored around 10,000 with it in my old system XP 2000 asus a7v333.. what do you think i would score with that card in my new system??

LoBob,
Check out all the user reviews on those cards. Lots of folks talk about what they upgraded from and what kind of results they got. I was running a ti4200 till I bought a 9600pro about a year ago and that was a huge boost. The 6600GT is supposed to be better than a 9800pro in most areas so I'd think you'd get a smile on your face.

The 6600GT is about 30% faster than a 9800Pro, which itself is 50-100% faster than a Ti4600. So yes, it would be a significant step up in performance.

I don't know what benchmark you used to score "10,000" (3DMark01, maybe?) with a Ti4600, but you'd be looking at a 100-150% performance increase across the board, although you might start to be CPU-limited at lower graphical settings (for instance, in 3DMark01 at 1024x768 without AA/AF). Plus you get DX9 effects in games that support them (such as HL2 and FarCry). Doom3 will also probably look a bit better.

I'd like to know where your buying from with great prices like that.

Look at my post. Rarely have I seen 6600GTs for over $300 (At leas not like that, Mostly something like $302, $306). Which, translated into US dollars, is something around $240 US.

Loook at the link I psted:

In the Vid cards section, the 6600GTs are pretty cheap.
