so a friend and I are having an IM conversation. we're both pretty geeky. well, I am at least, since i'm an ATOTer to say the least.

so i'm asking him what i shoudl download, cause i've got nothign downloading and i feel like i'm wasting bandwidth.

we end up having a huge geek conversation just for fun, and come up with "wisp" and "wasp":

wisps: bandwidth lost to inactivity
wasps: bytes contained in that lost bandwidth

we were imagining the wisps being little strains of hair-like "bandwidth" coming out the cable wire, and falling to the floor, where it shatters and explodes into thousands of little wasps, or little spherical balls with short arms, screaming "use me use me!!"

if you dont', unfortunately the wasps go to bandwidth heaven....

true that. but this context is gonnna get so big, when an ISP tells you they're a WISP people will say "i don't get it, you guys lose bandwidth to inactivity? isn't that a natural scenario for ISPs?"

An acronym isn't a really good tech acronym unless it has several alternate meanings, and extra points if the alternate meanings can be humor-inducing if used incorrectly.
