Great links. I work for DOE. We have a bunch (148 to be exact) of linux boxes running in a cluster. I think they are dual PIII 550's. These are for some scientific experiment that is funded from outside money so these machines are hands off.

The brother of my friend is working out in Los Alamos and they are getting this HUGE Compaq cluster with I think 16,000 CPUs or something strange like that. They are toying with some compilers as we speak with what they have assembled. I tried to convince them to try out RC5 on it and it was not even humored. =(

Hey DanC, are you setting this thing up for them in Los Alamos? Figured it was Compaq so you should know about something this large. I think it is going to the the fastest system in the world when it is setup completely.

I dunno about the fastest. I saw a page once with a list of "super-computers" and Los Alamos wasn't very high on the list. One of the things that floored me was that U. Tokyo had some MASSIVE computers that beat alot of industrial ventures. They had some "grape" thigamajiggers that had flops up the wazoo. Anybody here on this board own the Univ. Tokyo and wish to donate some cycles? ;-)
